Seven days.

Vacation? New concept for me but something I would like to get used to. Part of my taper for Tahoe Rim Trail 100 included some R & R up in Lake Tahoe at Sugar Pine Point State Park. We camped for five splendid nights. I soaked in a couple short and scenic trail runs from our camp-site balanced with hiking/beach days in between. At home now for a few days before heading back up to prepare for the incipient insanity that will be Saturday's 100 miles running on the magnificent Tahoe Rim Trail. As the race boasts, "A Glimpse of Heaven, and a Taste of Hell." Reminds me of those timeless lyrics in Steve Miller Band's song, "Jet Airliner."

Point Positive athletes out there training and racing across this here land. Matt G. took the opportunity to integrate some open water swims with his fishing trip up in Alaska--no doubt, good preps for Alcatraz swim tomorrow. Good luck Matt!

Doug Wilson is preparing for his first Ironman-distance Triathlon at Full Vineman (FVM) on August 1st. As of this writing, he is in the Sierras, now 3 weeks prior to FVM, getting it done on five mountain passes of the Death Ride. He's looking forward to bringing that fitness with him to his first 140.6 effort.
